Harness ‘Final Field’ Large Wagers
Auckland T.C. - Friday 16 October
Race 6 – 1st Genius opened $4.50 & closed $4.50 – Largest wager $600 at $5.00
La Femme D’Argent (2nd) $1,000 at $5.50
Our Sunny Whiz (3rd) $2,000 at $1.70, $1,300 at $1.70 & $1,000 at $1.70 (X3)
We lost on the winner but it was a good result in multi-wagering with around 90% of multi-wagers on the night having the favourite as an anchor.
Race 7 – 1st Another Matter opened $3.80 & closed $2.60 – Largest wager $4,000 at $3.00
Tintin In America (7th) $5,000 at $1.60
We had a couple of large multi-wagers finishing on the favourite Tintin In America and he was the best backed runner in the race. The late money came for the winner and we took a couple of large wagers on him closer to start time, the largest $4,000 at $3.00 and $3,000 at $2.80. The first bet in the morning was $200 on the favourite at $1.30 and the second wager was $221 at $3.80 on Another Matter.
NZ Metro T.C. - Friday 16 October
Race 1 – 1st Cullen’s Creek opened $4.50 & closed $3.20 – Largest wager $1,492 at $3.50
We saw some early money come for the winner in the first hour of trading and we did bring his odds into $3.50 but he still closed as our worst result. The favourite Franco Natura (3rd) was the best backed runner in multi-wagers. The only runner not to attract a bet was Fine Society (11th) a 60 - 1 rated runner.
Race 2 – 1st Stunin Cullen opened $1.60 & closed $1.60 – Largest wager $5,000 at $1.60
No surprise to see the winner take most multi-wagers after his impressive recent trial and with a few large single wagers he was a bad result for the ‘book’. We didn’t sell a ticket on Glenfarg (7th) who opened at $41 and closed at $101. Some late money did come for Sterlish but it was never going to be enough to soften the Stunin Cullen damage.
Race 5 – 1st Mon Star opened $5.50 & closed $3.80 – Largest wager $300 at $4.50
Makarewa Sun (2nd) $2,000 at $3.00
Another Moment (6th) $500 at $5.50
The winner was a small losing result on the single ‘book’ and also a losing result in the multi- finals on the race. There were also a few large multi wagers starting on the winner into a few of the favourites in the later races.
Race 7 – 1st Absolute Magic opened $1.60 & closed $2.20 –Llargest wager $500 qat $2.20
Ohoka Utah (2nd) $500 at $5.00
The late money came for Fiery Falcon (3rd) and he closed at $2.60 after opening at $3.50. The ‘book’ won in the single ‘book’ on the winner but he was a bad result in multi-wagers.
Race 8 – 1st With Intent opened $5.50 & closed $5.00 – Largest wager $300 at $5.50
Doctor Mickey (2nd) $3,000 at $4.00 & $1,000 at $5.00
Brownie (5th) $500 at $7.00
We took a couple of large wagers on the favourite Doctor Mickey and he closed at $2.80 after opening at around $6.00. Our opening favourite The Sheriff was late scratched and that did alter the odds significantly five minutes from post-time..
Race 9 – 1st Bachelorette opened $8.00 & closed $12 – Largest wager $300 at $12
Ohoka Rebel (3rd) $2,000 at $2.60 & $500 at $2.60 (X3)
This was our best result on the night with the ‘book’ only losing on the favourite Ohoka Rebel.
Race 11 – 1st Lady Dancer opened $10 & closed $6.00 – Largest wager $700 at $6.50
Whosgunagetit (13th) $500 at $7.50
The ‘book’ lost on the winner but as it was driven by Dexter Dunn it came as no surprise, it doesn’t matter what he drives the punters just want to be on him.
