Harness ‘Final Field’ Wagering Report - July 11
Auckland T.C - Friday 10 July
Race 1 – 1st Itz Cherry Ripe opened $3.40 & closed $3.60 – Largest wager $500 at $3.60 A reasonably quiet start to the night with only some morning trading on Montana Mach (8th) which opened at $10 and closed at $6.00. When the race closed the ‘book’ had taken wagers on most of the field and we did end up winning on Itz Cherry Ripe.
Race 2 – 1st Make It Real opened at $8.00 & closed at $8.00 – Largest wager $1,000 at $6.50
Long John Anvil (2nd) $1,000 at $2.40 (x3) , $800 at $2.40, $600 at $2.40 & $500 at $2.40 (x3)
Anotherchristian (11th) $500 at $13
It took a while but the money finally came for the favourite Long John Anvil and while he wasn’t backed in single wagering in the morning he took all the major mult-wagers. One of our larger wagering customers backed the winner and included him in some large multi’s so a couple of later results on the night could be interesting. Our worst result was Good Bad And Deugly (4th) followed by Anotherchristian (13th) which closed at $10 after opening at $13.
Race 3 – 1st La Femme D’Argent opened at $2.20 & closed $2.40 – Largest wager $500 at $2.20
Sno’s Big Boy (8th) $1,200 at $2.60
All the late money came for Sno’s Big Boy and the winner was a good result in the single ‘book’ but we did have a couple of multi’s finishing on her. China Chinko (2nd) opened at $18 and closed at $12 to close as our worst result.
Race 6 – 1st Takim opened at $10 & closed $12 – Largest wager $1,500 at $10
Mr Whoudini $1,000 at $5.50 & $500 at $5.50 (x3)
If anyone says there’s no value on Final Field markets then they obviously betting on another planet, we opened Mr Whoudini at $6.50 and we took plenty of early morning money on him. The Kevin Smith trained runner closed at $2.50 the tote ($2.60 FF) and we had a few multi-wagers finishing on him as well. Unfortunately one customer backed the winner with a large wager and we only ended up breaking even on the race.
Race 9 – 1st Lizzie Maguire opened at $1.50 & closed $1.60 – Largest wager $2,500 at $1.60
All the late money was for the favourite Lizzie Maguire but she did close a small winning result on the single ‘book’ but in the multi’s finishing on this race it was a losing result. The only losing result on the single ‘book’ was Retail Therapy which closed at $8.00 after opening at $11.
Race 10 – 1st Sean Phillip opened $6.00 & closed $9.00 – Largest wager $200 at $9.00
Luminescence (5th) $1,000 at $6.00 & $1,000 at $6.00
There were no large wagers finishing on the winner so that was one plus for us with three of the previous races won by favourites. All the late money was for Luminescence and there were a couple of large wagers finishing on her. The winner was a good result for the ‘book’.
